The Ambassador of Afghanistan, H.E. Mr Mohammad Umar Daudzai, called on the Foreign Minister today, and discussed the developments following the recently held Trilateral Summit in Islamabad on February 16-17, 2012.
The Ambassador said that President Karzai was pleased with his recent visit to Pakistan which provided an opportunity to exchange views with Pakistan’s leadership on a number of issues. He informed that the statement of 24th February 2012 by the Prime Minister of Pakistan in response to President Karzai’s statement of 21 February 2012 was widely appreciated in Afghanistan both in media as well as official circles.
The two sides also discussed the forthcoming REECA-V Conference in Dushanbe next month, and the Tokyo Conference in Japan in July 2012.
The Foreign Minister stressed the need to closely coordinate future steps with regards to the peace and reconciliation process, as well as development and reconstruction in Afghanistan.
Matters relating to smooth flow of goods under the Afghanistan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement were also reviewed.
