Ambassador Mohammad Imran Mirza called on Ambassador Cherif Oumar Diagne, Director of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 26 February 2016, and presented copies of credentials. The Director welcomed the Ambassador for his assignment as Ambassador, and assured of his full support during his tenure. He expressed satisfaction that both countries enjoyed warm and cordial relations, and emphasized that Senegal attaches great importance to its relations with Pakistan.
Ambassador Mirza thanked the Director for assuring his support, and conveyed warm greetings, on behalf of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, to President Macky Sall. On being elected as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, the Ambassador expressed hope that Senegal would play a positive role in promoting and protecting interests of Muslim countries.
The Ambassador also referred to the Prime Minister’s meeting with President Macky Sall in September 2015, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, where both the leaders agreed to enhance bilateral trade and investment, and promote defence cooperation.
Finally, Ambassador Mirza conveyed that Pakistan hoped that Senegal would consider opening its diplomatic mission in Islamabad, which would fast-track exchange of visits between our two countries.
