Ambassador visits Ho Chi Minh City
Ambassador Zaigham Uddin Azam visited Ho Chi Minh City from 19-22 February 2014, in order to meet with the political leadership of Ho Chi Minh City , as well as its business elite, besides meeting with the Pakistani community, residing in Ho Chi Minh City . In his meeting with the Chairman People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, he discussed ways and means to enhance trade with Vietnam and agreed with the proposal of Chairman Ho Chi Minh City People Committee that we do need the presence of an Honorary Consul General, to protect our trade and commercial interests in Ho Chi Minh City. He also urged the Chairman to make Ho Chi Minh City and Karachi as sister cities to which he graciously agreed. The Ambassador also broached the idea of Pakistan-Vietnam Trade Centre with him, to which he assured the Ambassador his all out support. Besides, Chairman Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, Ambassador Zaigham Uddin Azam also had meetings with the Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Business Council, delegates from Ho Chi Minh City Young Business-Men Association and visited a garment and a packaging factory as well. The Ambassador also met with Pakistani diaspora, listed their issues and gave instructions on spot to solve them. He also informed them about our governments measures to address issues of economy and terrorism.
