Hon’ble Chairman Senate HE Mr. Sadiq Sanjarani called on Mufti-e-Azam of Oman at his residence earlier today. According a personal welcome, HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalili, Grand Mufti of Oman observed that Pakistan enjoyed highest esteem for its unwavering support and services to the Ummah.
The Grand Mufti, praising Pakistan’s unique status among the Muslim countries, expressed hope that Pakistan would continue to meeting larger expectations in playing a constructive and substantive role towards promoting peace, progress, and unity further observing that ‘our core strength is in our unity’. The Sheikh also called upon promotion of dialogue, without drawing any distinction, as means to global peace and prosperity.
HE Sheikh Khalili, fondly recalling his past visits to Pakistan, stated that he held Pakistan affectionately close to his heart and remains attached to Pakistani people for 40 years, further stating that he cites Allama Iqbal’s poetry in almost every discourse he makes.
The Hon’ble Chairman expressed gratitude for the warmth and hospitality extended to the delegation and praised Grand Mufti’s five decades of visionary and scholarly services to Islamic world along wide immense and affectionate support to further bilateral relations with Pakistan.
The Hon’ble Chairman, who is accompanied with five Honble Senators for the ongoing bilateral visit including, Azam Khan Swati (Minister for Science & Technology), Madame Kalsoom Parveen, Maula Bux Chandio, Dilawar Khan and Haji Momin Khan Afridi, extended invitation to HE Sheikh Khalili to visit Pakistan which was accepted along with a reaffirmation from both sides to continue highest political, parliamentary and scholarly exchanges at all platforms.
Expert in jurisprudence, Islamic sharia, Teacher, Author, Columnist and Philosopher, Sheikh Khalili was appointed by Sultan Qaboos as Grand Mufti of Oman in 1974 at the age of 33.
