Mr. Sartaj Aziz, Chairman of the FATA Reforms Committee, alongwith other members, visited North Waziristan Agency today, to ascertain the views of Tribal Maliks, Civil Society and different political parties. Other members of the Committee include Governor KPK Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, Minister SAFRON Lt Gen (r) Abdul Qadir Baluch, Minister for Human Rights and Climate Change Mr Zahid Hamid and Secretary SAFRON Mr Khalid Pervez.
Tribal elders nominated by each tribe, office bearers of political parties, civil society, journalists and traders presented their views in a frank and cordial atmosphere. All participants thanked the Government for setting up the high level Committee to examine this important subject and for the Committee’s decision to ascertain the views of the tribal people before finalizing its recommendations. Discussions also focused on return and rehabilitation of displaced families of North Waziristan Agency as well as economic development of the Agency as part of FATA reforms.
In coming weeks, the Committee will also visit Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, and South Waziristan Agencies.
