Foreign Minister's Informal Discussion with D-8 Ambassadors / High Commissioners in Pakistan
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi held an informal discussion with High Commissioners / Ambassadors from Developing Eight (D-8) member countries. Muhammad Hammad Azhar, Minister of State for Revenue also attended the session. High Commissioners from Bangladesh, Malaysia, Nigeria as well as Ambassadors from Iran, Indonesia, Egypt and Turkey participated in open and frank deliberations focusing on future development of the organization.
Foreign Minister underscored need for implementation of preferential trade, visa and customs agreements to turn D-8 into an economic power house. He stressed that bottlenecks and impediments causing delay in enforcement of legal instruments and agreements should be identified. In addition, steps should be taken to resolve these issues expeditiously to make D-8 a vibrant and dynamic economic organization.
He shared with the participants that Pakistan remains committed to vision and objectives of the D-8 and will continue to accord high priority to the organization to achieve its full potential.
