H.E. Mr. Dastanbek Artisbekovich Dzumanbekov, Speaker, Kyrgyz Parliament (Jogorku Kenesh) received Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi of Pakistan today. Ambassador Tirmizi conveyed warm greetings of Mr. Asad Qaiser, Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan to the Kyrgyz Speaker. The Kyrgyz Speaker reiterated the invitation extended by his predecessor to Speaker, National Assembly of Pakistan to pay a visit to Kyrgyzstan in 2019. Former Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Mr. Chynybai Tursunbekov had paid an extremely successful official visit to Pakistan on March 13-15, 2017.
Both sides underscored the need to encourage more parliament-to-parliament, people-to-people and business-to-business contacts between the two brotherly countries to further consolidate bilateral relations. Speaker stressed the need to further increase the trade volume between the two countries and hoped that Kyrgyzstan could offer a great investment opportunity for Pakistani investors in textile, hoteling and manufacturing sectors. He also underscored the need to export world class Kyrgyz meat, honey, fresh and dry fruits to Pakistan through China. Ambassador Tirmizi briefed the Speaker on the upgradation of the Karakorum Highway to make it operational throughout the year. Both sides also agreed the need to start regular flights between the two countries in order to promote trade and tourism between the two countries.
