Meeting of the Oversight Board (OSB) of the Strategic Export Control Division
The Annual meeting of the Oversight Board (OSB) of the Strategic Export Control Division was held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was chaired by the Foreign Secretary Mr. Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry and attended by members of the Oversight Board. The Board reviewed implementation of export control on Goods, Technologies, Material and Equipment related to Nuclear and Biological Weapons and their Delivery Systems Act-2004 and functioning of the Strategic Export Control Division (SECDIV). Director General SECDIV Mr. Zafar Ali apprised the participants about ongoing activities and future plans of the Division and, also presented progress report on the decisions taken during earlier OSB meetings.
The Oversight Board showed complete satisfaction over SECDIV performance and recent initiatives for further strengthening export controls, and appreciated its proactive outreach strategy.
The Strategic Export Control Division was set up in 2007 under Export Control Act of 2004. Its establishment is a manifestation of Pakistan’s commitment to safeguard its national security and foreign policy objectives and to fulfill its national and international obligations as a responsible nuclear weapon state.
