On October 27, 1947, Indian Army forcibly took over the Princely State of Jammu and Kashmir against the aspirations of the Muslim majority population of the State to accede to Pakistan. Even after the lapse of seventy-one years of ruthless and brutal occupation by the Indian security apparatus in Jammu and Kashmir, the demand for self determination still remains alive in the hearts of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
In this regard a function was organized today on October 28, 2018 at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Doha to commemorate the day as the Black Day where renowned personalities from various walks of life in Doha threw light on the barbaric tactics used by the Indian occupation forces in order to subdue and deny the right of self determination as agreed by the United Nations resolutions for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Function was also attended by State Minister for Interior Mr. Shehryar Khan Afridi who is currently on an official visit to State of Qatar. Minister during his address reiterated that Pakistan will continue to press the international community to solve the Kashmir issue as per the United Nations Resolutions on Kashmir and will continue to support the Kashmir cause at Moral, Political and Diplomatic fronts.
Charge d' Affairs of Pakistan to Qatar Mr. Murad Baseer also reiterated Pakistan's principled stance on the issue of self determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan's political and diplomatic support to the cause. The function was attended by a large number of people from different walks of like to observe the Black Day to show solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
