Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, H.E. Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on 26 September 2013 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The Secretary General congratulated the Prime Minister on his elections and the deepening of the democratic process in Pakistan. He commended the positive role of Pakistan in the Muslim world and the OIC activities. The Secretary General appreciated Pakistan’s presidency of the Standing Committee on Science and Technology (COMSTECH) and proposed the holding of World Science Summit at an early date. The Prime Minister stated that Pakistan attached high importance to the work of OIC. He also commended the Secretary General for his role during the last nine years in raising the profile of the OIC as the largest organization of the Muslim world.
