Pakistan-China Research Center
An impressive ceremony was held in the Sichuan Normal University in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province of China today to launch the Pakistan-China Research Center at the University.
Speaking on the occasion, the Consul General of Pakistan in Chengdu Mr. Mudassir Tipu underscored the importance of focusing on further strengthening cultural, educational and research ties between Pakistan and Western China. He said that the idea of launching the Center was jointly conceived by the Consulate General of Pakistan in Chengdu and the Sichuan Normal University.
The Consul General expressed the hope that the Center will further enrich the already impressive research work being done on various aspects of Pakistan-China relations as well as important developments in the region and beyond. By developing linkages with Pakistani universities and think tanks, the Center will also provide a useful platform for Pakistani and Chinese scholars and researchers to conduct joint studies and research on important topics of mutual interest and in the process create better understanding about Pakistani and Chinese Societies. The Center also planned to conduct Chinese language training for Pakistani students/scholars and Urdu language training for Chinese students/scholars.
The launching ceremony was also attended by the CPC Party Secretary of Sichuan Normal University Mr. Ding Renzhong , President of the Sichuan Normal University Mr. Wang Mingyi and Dean of College of International Education at the University Ms. Yang Yingyu.
In their remarks, the Chinese dignitaries expressed the belief that the Center will become a strong bridge between Pakistan and Western & South Western China in terms of promoting mutual understanding of the two countries in a comprehensive manner.
The Center is the second research institute focusing on Pakistan established in Chengdu. Prior to this, a Pakistan Study Center is already operational in the Sichuan University since 2008.
