Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been concluded between Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT and ITES (P@SHA) and Information Technology Association (ITA) South Africa. The MoU was signed by Mr. BarkanSaeed, Chairman of Pasha and Mr. Thabo, President IT Association of South Africa, on 7th October 2020, via Webinar.The event was witnessed by Mr. Adnan Javaid, Charge d’ Affaires (a.i) & Ms HumairaIsrar, Trade and investment attaché at High Commission of Pakistan.
The signing of MoU is a major breakthrough to enter in IT sector in South Africa. Over three hundred and fifty companies are active members of P@SHA whereas the ITA represents more than 200 companies concerned with the supply of information technology equipment, systems, software and services.
Chairman of Pasha, underscored the competitive edge of Pakistan’s IT sector that is around 60 percent cost effective vis-a-vis other countries. President of ITA highlighted that future is software and technology. Both sides applauded the Mission’s efforts for being instrumental to conclude the historic agreement which will pave the way for Pakistan’s IT sector in Southern African region.
Charge d’ Affairs, whilst speaking on the occasion,remarked that COVID-19 challenges have further enhanced the significance of the IT sector. He stated that collaboration and cooperation in the field of technology is the key for the socio-economic development in future.
The MoU is in pursuance of Government of Pakistan’s policy to explore non-traditional sector for exports of Pakistan which the Mission’s has vigorously been pursuing to tap and capitalize the IT industry in South Africa.
