Prime Minister’s Meeting With The Prime Minister Of Malta, Colombo, 16 November 2013
(2013-11-16) The Prime Minister met Mr. Joseph Muscat, Prime Minister of Malta, on the sidelines of Commonwealth Head’s of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2013) in Colombo, today. Prime Minister was assisted by Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs.
The Prime Minister of Malta welcomed the peaceful and democratic transition of the civilian government in Pakistan and congratulated the Prime Minister on receiving a clear mandate from the people of Pakistan.
The Prime Minister emphasized the need for increasing commercial and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Malta. He suggested that both countries should encourage exchange of trade delegations to identify areas of trade. The Prime Minister also emphasized the need for reactivation of Joint Commission between the two countries. He also thanked his Maltese counterpart for the offer of free port facilities to Pakistan.
Prime Minister Muscat appreciated the efforts being made by Pakistan in forging peaceful environment in the region. They expressed satisfaction over cooperation the two countries had at the international forums and the imperatives of regular high level consultations between Pakistan and Malta.
Prime Minister Joseph Muscat invited Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif invitation to visit Malta.
