Provision of COVID-19 Humanitarian Medical Aid to brotherly government of Syrian Arab Republic
Damascus – 01 November 2020: To show solidarity with our Syrian brothers in their hour of need, the Government of Pakistan sent nearly 28 tons of Covid-19 related humanitarian Aid through a special plane. It was received at the Damascus International Airport by our Ambassador Air Marshal (R) Saeed Muhammad Khan and Embassy officials. The aid was handed over to the Government of Syria, which was represented by Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, Deputy Foreign Minister, Dr. Ahmad, Deputy Minister for Health and other senior Government officials. The aid comprised of 250,000 face masks, 50,000 Protective Suits, 50,000 Gowns, 50,000 KN-95 with Filter and49,100 Goggles.
In his remarks at the handover ceremony, H.E Air Marshal (Retd) Saeed Muhammad Khan, Ambassador of the Pakistan to Syria highlighted that the aid was a “token of friendship and solidarity” with our brotherly country Syria.
He also said that the global pandemic requires global solidarity and cooperation. Pakistan fully supports Syria in these testing times and understands the importance of delivering this medical aid quickly as we had also suffered the same situation in our early days of pandemic.
Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, Deputy Foreign Minister thanked the Government of Pakistan on sending the humanitarian medical aid. He also added that this action illustrates Pakistan’s support to Syria in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. As a longstanding friend and partner of Syria, they appreciated Pakistan’sefforts for assisting Syria.
