Over 20 students between the ages of 16 and 17 years of an international school 'Liceo Scientifico Democrito' visited the Embassy today. The students were accompanied by the Head of the school Ms and some faculty members.
At the Embassy, they were welcomed by First Secretary, Ms. Wajiha Khan who appreciated the initiative and termed it as a good opportunity to promote inter-cultural harmony and cultural relativism. She briefed the students on the functions and working of Embassies in general, and the Mission in particular.
Second Secretary, Ms. Alaa Mazher Bokhari gave them an interactive presentation on the history, culture, and daily life in Pakistan, asking questions and sharing interesting facts about the country. An overview on bilateral economic relations was given by Ms. Saira Imdad Ali, Commercial Counsellor.
The Defence Attache, Air Commodore Syed Fayyaz Mehboob also highlighted Pakistan's Defence capabilities and priorities. Lastly students asked fascinating questions to which the officers responded candidly.
Students were given a tour of the Embassy, and shown the workings of the consular section. They were able to witness activity of the Section during the busiest time.
The program ended with a serving of traditional Pakistani food, and students were given books as souvenirs to take home.
The school has been adopted by the Embassy under the Italian Foreign Ministry's Embassy Adoption Program. This was the second activity of its kind under the initiative. Earlier the Ambassador had visited the school and spent time with students going through their school activities.
