The Consulate General of Pakistan, Chengdu Promotes Educational Ties Between Pakistan and Southwestern China
As part of its efforts to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in higher education and R&D sector between Pakistan and Southwestern China, the Consulate General of Pakistan is facilitating Pakistani higher education institutions in establishing linkages with leading universities and enterprises.
In this connection, the Consulate General has been working on a number of initiatives. A delegation from National University of Science & Technology (NUST) visited Chengdu in November 2017. The Consulate General facilitated the delegation in having successful meetings and negotiations with the Institute of Mountain Hazards & Environment, Sichuan University and Southwest Jiaotong University in Chengdu. The delegation also met a leading enterprise specializing in road & bridge construction in Kunming, Yunnan Province.
On 9th March, 2018, the Consul General met the Vice President of University of Electronics Science & Technology (UESTC), Chengdu Professor Caidong Xiong and discussed NUST's interest in signing an MoU with UESTC. The Vice President welcomed the idea and said that UESTC will have further discussions in the matter with NUST.
On 8th November, 2017, a Pakistan Research Center was established in the Sichuan Normal University. The idea of launching the Center was jointly conceived by the Consulate General and the University. The Sichuan Normal University is also training young Pakistani students to become teachers of Chinese language. The Consulate General is proactively supporting this programme.
The Consulate General will continue to extend full cooperation to Pakistani educational and research institutions in establishing mutually beneficial ties with their counterparts in Southwestern China.
