Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated with national zeal and fervor. The event was attended by more than 350 people including Pakistani families, diplomats, Defence Attaches, Nigerian Government officials, politicians and distinguished notables from business and civil society.
High Commission was fully decorated with the Pakistan flags and other decoration materials. The main focus of the event was to highlight the historic struggle for independence and projection of Pakistani culture. A stall displaying Pakistani handicraft was also installed.
In his speech His Excellency, Major General (Retired) Waqar Ahmad Kingravi, highlighted the purpose of creation of Pakistan and the sacrifices rendered by our forefathers for independence. He also mentioned the achievements of the nation in difference fields and touched upon the vast economic and human potentials of the country.
A short documentary to project the soft image of Pakistan, its achievement in industrial, educational, sports and Defence section was also presented which attracted the attention of the audience. In the end, Pakistan community was urged to contribute in Diamer Basha and Mohamand Dams Fund.”
