Malala Yousafzai is being awarded the “2012 Tipperary International Peace Award” Ireland for her courage and determination to speak out in support of equal access to education for every child.

Malala Yousafzai was one of the five nominees, which included U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, President of Indian National Congress Sonia Gandhi, former Kenyan journalist John Githongo and the Pax Christi International, the Catholic human rights and peace organization. Malala was nominated for advocating women’s right to education.

Former Prime Minister Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was awarded the Tipperary Peace Award in 2007.
