58th Defence and Martyrs Day of Pakistan was commemorated in Dushanbe. A Reception was hosted by the Ambassador of Pakistan in the evening of 6th September 2023
Lieutenant General Sobirzoda Emomali, First Deputy Minister of Defence and Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan of the Republic of Tajikistan graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Senior Tajik civil and military officials, Parliamentarians, Ambassadors, Academicians, members of the Diplomatic Corps, Defence & Military Attaches, media personnel and members of Pakistani community attended the reception.
Ambassador Muhammad Saeed Sarwar, in his speech, highlighted the significance of the day and paid rich tributes to the sacrifices of armed forces, law enforcement agencies and Pakistani citizens who laid down their lives to protect motherland, as well as to ensure peace and stability of the country.
He underlined that spirit of September 1965 had timeless resonance which is alive in the hearts and minds of every Pakistani.
The Ambassador emphasized that Pakistan was committed to peace and contributed significantly in global campaigns against terrorism and peace keeping efforts. However, he added that Pakistan would never compromise on its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, whenever challenged.
Referring to the State sponsored oppression in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir, the Ambassador assured that Pakistan would continue to extend moral, diplomatic and political support to the people of Kashmir in their just struggle for the right to self-determination.
The Ambassador also highlighted the high importance attached by Pakistan to its fraternal ties with Tajikistan. Reaffirming the deep-rooted historic relations between Pakistan-Tajikistan relations, the Ambassador said that the relations between the two brotherly countries are destined to grow further in future.
Col. Jamil Afsar Malik, Defence Attaché, in his speech, shed light on strong military ties between the two brotherly countries, guided by shared vision of achieving peace and stability in the region.
Documentaries about armed forces of Pakistan, defence production, joint military exercises between the friendly countries of Pakistan, and culture of Pakistan were also screened during the event.
