A huge celebration in Floreal Pakistan celebrates its 69th Anniversary of Independence on the 14 August . The Yaum-e- Azadi (Independence) was commemorated at the headquarters of the Pakistan embassy in Mauritius, Floreal, in the presence of many Mauritians and Pakistani nationals established in Mauritius. The day began with the reading of the Holy Qur’an. The Pakistani Charge d’Affairs, Ahmed Nadeem Mustafa, proceeded to raise the flag of Pakistan before reading messages of the President Mamnoon Hussain and the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. The ceremony was followed by the Cake Cutting Ceremony. As usual, it is the children who have had the honor of cutting the cake. The guests have been invited for a traditional breakfast of Pakistan, comprising of the Halwa Puri and ‘Achari Channa. The Pakistani Charge d’Affairs announced the opening of a local campus of the University Greenwich based in Karachi. “This local branch will be open in Rose Hill and several courses will be available,” he says. Ahmed Nadeem Mustafa welcomes the good relations between Mauritius and Pakistan. “Pakistan offers 16 scholarships to students Mauritians. But, it is unfortunate that the interest is not very large,” he says. In addition of the textile, he advised the Mauritian businessmen and merchants to turn toward the medical equipment, sports, culinary, among others.
