6th Sichuan International Travel Expo (SCITE)

The 6th Sichuan International Travel Expo (SCITE) was held in Leshan City, Sichuan Province from 6-9 September, 2019 (one of the three major tourism exhibitions in Sichuan). Consulate General of Pakistan participated first time in SCITE and established a booth. Pakistani booth was decorated with posters of historic places & handicrafts. Coffee table books and brouchers were displayed depicting tourism treasures of Pakistan. Videos depicting Pakistan’s tourism potential were played. A large number of people visited the booth and showed enthusiasm and curiosity to know Pakistan.

On 7th September, 2019, in International Cooperation Forum Acting Consul General (ACG) delivered a keynote speech. ACG introduced historical archeological sites and cultural heritages from Mehar Garh to modern Pakistan. While promoting Pakistani tourist attractions, the variety of tourism experiences ranging from adventure to religion were highlighted. The presentation provided brief introduction to archaeological, natural & civilizational heritage of Pakistan. This was an opportunity to introduce Pakistan to scholars, tour operators & associations and global experts.

Pakistan was awarded the “Most Potential Tourist Destination” at Global Tourism Destination Carnival 2019 (a special regular event focusing on outbound/inbound tourism with professional ranking index developed by Tourism University of Beijing in cooperation with Chinese and global tourism community). ACG encouraged the participants to seek opportunities in Pakistan’s tourism market during the Award ceremony. The Award increased the flow of tour operators and Chinese people to the Pakistani stall in the exhibition. This proves that special professional awards play important role in enhancing tourism. It is proposed that the Award Certificate may be publicized to attract tourism towards Pakistan. A copy of the award is attached.
