PAKISTANI Acting High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Ahmed Ali Sirohey recently met the Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong.

According to a press release, the Pakistani diplomat extended an invitation to the minister to visit Pakistan.

He also said that there are many visits planned for the near future, including by the Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Army and Defence Secretary of Pakistan.

He also emphasised the need to translate existing strong brotherly relationships between two countries into stronger bilateral trade ties.

The Pakistani Acting High Commissioner spoke of future events being planned such as Pakistan Culture Week, Pakistan Single Country Exhibition and Investors Conference to be held in cooperation by the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) and the Pakistan High Commission in Brunei Darussalam.

Ahmed Ali Sirohey said Pakistan allows Brunei visitors to get a 30-day visa on arrival. Moreover, if a Bruneian applies to the high commission for a visit or business visa, they can get a three-month visa within 24 hours.

The Pakistani envoy requested reciprocity in the issuance of visa and special consideration for the families of resident businessmen/ professionals in order to enhance bilateral relations through people-to-people contacts.

The minister said any request on visa liberalisation would be deliberated and communicated to the mission.
