Acting High Commissioner Mr. Ahmed Ali Sirohey visited Chinese Chambers of Commerce of Brunei Darussalam on April 8, 2019.

President of Chinese Chambers of Commerce MALCOLM Lim Tiong Han @ Lim Peh Beng and members welcomed the Acting High Commissioner. President of Chinese Chambers of Commerce in his welcoming address welcomed the Acting High Commissioner and gave a brief introduction of Chinese Chambers of Commerce and its journey since its establishment in 1946.

President of the Chinese Chambers of Commerce also mentioned that since its establishment this is the first visit of any representative from Pakistan High Commission in Brunei Darussalam. He invited Pakistan High Commission to participate in the upcoming Asia expo to be held 27 Nov to Dec 1, 2019, under the auspices of Chinese Chambers of Commerce.

Acting High Commissioner thanked the President and members of Chinese Chambers of Commerce for the warm welcome and taking their time for this meeting. He appreciated the organization’s efforts as an entity to promote business in Brunei Darussalam throughout the last 72 years.

He apprised the President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and its members about the investment potential of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan is an emerging investment and tourist destination. Pakistan has opened up for investors and tourists and cited a new visa-on-arrival policy for citizens of Brunei in this regard.

He elaborated that Pakistan is exporting Rice, Fruits, Cement, Dates, Surgical instruments, Sports, Textile, Seafood, meat, Construction material, Luxury furniture, IT products, Defence equipment, Home Appliances, etc.

He informed the Chinese Chamber of Commerce about upcoming Catalogue Show to be held in last week of April 2019 as well as the visit of a delegation from Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in June 2019.

He also informed Chinese Chambers of Commerce about various trade fairs held annually in Pakistan and elaborated opportunities which can be availed in all sectors.

He highlighted the opportunities of Foreign Direct Investment for Chinese Investors in Pakistan in the wake of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project and invited Chinese investors to invest in Pakistan.
