Mr. Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs met Mr. Wang Yi, Foreign Minister of China today in Brunei Darussalam. Both the Ministers are attending 20th Ministerial meeting of ASEAN Regional Forum. The two Ministers expressed satisfaction at the state of bilateral relations which received impetus during the visit of Premier Li Keqiang to Pakistan in May and would be reinforced with the visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to China this week. The visit will further reinforce the warmth, closeness and strategic partnership between the two friendly neighbors.

The Adviser highlighted the new government’s focus on revival of the economy for which China’s role will make a significant contribution. Pakistan China trade has already crossed $12 billion and the target is to raise it to $15 billion in the next two years.

The Adviser reiterated that China is and will remain the cornerstone and guiding principle of Pakistan’s foreign Policy.
