The Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Sartaj Aziz called on His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain on March 19, 2014. The Foreign Secretary, Additional Secretary (ME&A) and Pakistan Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain were also present in the meeting.

His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa stated that he was in his second home and the bonds of love and amity between Bahrain and Pakistan were deep rooted in our culture and history. “Although we are new countries we have been trading partners since 7000 years when the Indus Valley civilization had trade with Dilmun civilization”. His Majesty remarked that it was therefore easy to translate the political goodwill into effective economic and trade relations. He expressed the desire for enhanced trade and investment, which would lead to tangible dividends for the progress and prosperity of the brotherly peoples of the two countries. His Majesty conveyed Bahrain’s interest in further expanding and diversifying its relations with Pakistan in all areas of cooperation. His Majesty also shared his views on bilateral, regional and international areas of mutual interest with Mr. Sartaj Aziz.

The Adviser while emphasizing the importance the Government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif attaches to Pakistan’s relations with Bahrain, briefed His Majesty on the key policies and priorities of Pakistan’s Foreign Policy. Mr. Sartaj Aziz said that the visit of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa was a manifestation of the deep commitment of Bahrain towards taking Pakistan-Bahrain relationship to new heights. The Adviser also thanked His Majesty the King for his affection towards Pakistani community and expressed the hope that the community would continue to play a positive role in different sectors of Bahraini economy.
