Ambassador called on Mr. Mamasaly Akmatov Takabaevich Deputy Governor and Mr. Tagaev Murataly, Mayor of Jalalabad. Jalalabad is the third largest city of the Kyrgyz Republic with a population of 150,000 and the biggest contributor to Kyrgyzstan with 23% of national GDP comes from this province. On suggestions from Deputy Governor and Mayor, Ambassador has proposed Peshawar and Jalalabad as sister city of Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan. Mayor also invited Pakistani businessmen to invest in the local tourist industry by building hotels in the city. He also invited Pakistani businessmen to set up food processing plant in the city.
Ambassador also called on Mr. Kenesh Usenov, Rector Jalalabad State Medical University where 64 Pakistani students are studying. The University provides education to over 6400 students, out of which 2300 are foreigners. The Deputy Governor, Mayor and Rector have asked our help for more Pakistani students to get education in their universities at cheaper rate than Bishkek.
