In order to project Pakistani culture and cuisine among local and expatriate community in Manila, the Embassy of Pakistan participated in the Annual International Evening Festival organized by the British School Manila on 15 February 2019. Pakistan was represented in the cultural parade and ethnic food buffet at an active scale.
The Embassy’s pavilion at the Festival was divided into two portions: One side providing authentic Pakistani cuisine whereas the other portion showcased traditional handicrafts and displayed tourism promotional posters. Pakistani contingent in the flag and ethnic dress show parade was led by Ambassador Dr. Aman Rashid and Mrs. Shumiala Aman while a large number of Pakistani origin children and their parents wearing fancy Pakistani dresses participated in the parade. The families also presented folk dances of Pakistan on stage on the beat of respective folk music which earned a huge applause and appreciation by the viewers.
The event was attended by over 2300 people of 81 nationalities. Pakistani food was immensely liked by the foreigners and Pakistanis alike. Pakistani dresses elicited tangible public appreciation. Pakistan’s soft image reflected on the touristic posters created visible interest among the viewers. The event lasted for about over four hours followed by raffle draw, whose proceeds were donated to the charity.
