Third Round of Bilateral Political Consultations between Pakistan and the Netherlands was held in the Hague (the Netherlands) on 11 February 2013. Ms Ayesha Riyaz, Additional Secretary (Europe), Ministry of Foreign Affairs led Pakistan delegation during the Consultations. Ambassador of Pakistan to the Netherlands, Mrs. Fauzia M. Sana also participated. The host delegation was headed by Mr. Karel van Oosterom, Director General for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
During the Consultations, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations including cooperation in the political, economic, cultural educational and other spheres. Cooperation at multilateral forums was also discussed.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over the fact that the process of Bilateral Political Consultations was moving forward in the right direction. They also discussed the possibility of enhancing bilateral contacts including at the highest level.
The two sides also focused exploring the possibilities to further deepen bilateral engagements in various areas including bilateral trade, commerce, investments, education, culture, water management, alternative energy resources, agri based industry e.g. horticulture and dairy sector, science and technology. Regional and global issues of mutual concern also came up for discussion during the Consultations.
Institutionalized Annual Consultations between Pakistan and the Netherlands were initiated in July 2010. The next round of consultations will be held in Islamabad in 2014. The exact dates will be finalized through diplomatic channels.
