The wives of 50 foreign envoys in Islamabad launched a joint cookbook on Tuesday, 11th February, 2020. The book features recipes for both good food and well-cooked international relations.
Titled “Culinary Diplomacy: Sharing Recipes, Building Bridges,” the book contains 143 recipes from 50 different countries of six continents. The chief guest, First Lady of Pakistan, Mrs. Samina Alvi graced the Book Launch Ceremony and appreciated the efforts of HDMS ( Heads of Diplomat Missions’s Spouses Group) who had prepared the book over the span of almost two years.
Five books signed by the first lady were put to auction during the event. The revenue thus generated would go to a charity organisation recognized by the Government of Pakistan.
The Patron PFOWA Mrs. Mehriene Qureshi , alongwith President PFOWA Mrs. Mahwish Sohail and PFOWA Excom members attended the ceremony and donated for charity by bidding for one of the auctioned books.
The event featured Live cooking and concluded with a feast of international cuisine prepared from the recipes in the book.
