Mr. Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the Prime minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs received the British High Commissioner (designate) H.E. Philip Barton today for a courtesy call.
The Adviser highlighted the priorities of the present Government for improving the economy and emphasized the need for enhancing bilateral trade between Pakistan and the UK by exchanging business delegations. He appreciated the valuable financial support extended by UK in the education, health sectors. He also thanked the UK for its support in the European Union for Pakistan to attain GSP Plus status which would lead to an increase in Pakistan’s exports to the EU.
The Adviser, also briefed the High Commissioner on the Government’s desire to improve relations with all neighboring countries including India and Afghanistan.
The British High Commissioner thanked the Adviser on his comprehensive briefing. He stated that the UK values its ties with Pakistan and looks towards enhancing Pakistan-UK bilateral cooperation with special emphasis on increasing bilateral trade during his tenure.
