Dr. Ashraf Choudhry, Member of Parliament of New Zealand called on Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi yesterday.
The Foreign Minister congratulated Dr. Choudhry on the setting up of a twelve-member New Zealand-Pakistan Friendship Group in the New Zealand Parliament. They discussed ways and means to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of higher education, horticulture, dairy processing techniques and agriculture. The Foreign Minister underscored convening of an inaugural Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meeting during his visit to New Zealand in the near future. Dr. Choudhry is Secretary of the New Zealand-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group. He hails from Pakistan and is the only Muslim Member of Parliament in New Zealand.
The Foreign Minister also conveyed gratitude on behalf of the government and the people of Pakistan for relief assistance of US$ 2.87 million in the wake of recent floods in Pakistan
