Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar met Mr. Akhtar Chaudhry, Deputy Speaker of the Norwegian Parliament today.
Mr. Chaudhry is currently visiting Pakistan to receive Sitara-e-Quaid-e-Azam from the President of Pakistan on 23rd March 2011.
Minister of State congratulated Mr. Chaudhry on the conferment of the award and appreciated the efforts he had made in promoting close relations between Pakistan and Norway and building bridges of understanding between the two communities.
There is a sizeable Pakistani community living in Norway. In fact it is the second largest ethnic group in the country after the Polish community.
Briefing the Deputy Speaker on the situation in Afghanistan, the Minister of State said that Pakistan remains fully committed to a stable and peaceful Afghanistan and would continue to play a constructive role to achieve this objective.
Regarding the resumption of dialogue process between Pakistan and India, the Minister of State said that Pakistan was committed to promote the process of constructive engagements in the interest of peace, stability and development of our peoples and of the region.
