The Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Mr. Sartaj Aziz received an eight-member delegation of German Press and Journalist’s Association at the Ministry yesterday.
The Adviser briefed the journalists on the foreign policy objectives of Pakistan and the vision of the Prime Minister of a peaceful neighborhood. He dilated upon Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts and the National Action Plan.
The Adviser stated that the Government of Pakistan seeks more trade and not aid. Pakistan offered excellent investment opportunities to foreign investors. He also highlighted Pakistan’s democratic credentials and various measures taken by the Government to ensure good governance and fiscal discipline.
Mr. Sartaj Aziz also discussed Afghanistan, Pakistan-India relations and other global issues. He stressed that the Government of Pakistan desires to maintain good relations with all its neighbours. Commenting on relations with Germany, he stated that it was a strong relationship with great potential.
The visiting journalists appreciated Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts and its desire to maintain good relations with all its neighbors. They also commended the freedom of the media as well as the transparent policies of the government.
