The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Kyiv celebrated 76th Independence day in 14th August.

The Mission organized 76th Independence Day event at the Embassy’s premises. Due to ongoing situation in Ukraine limited number of audiences were invited.

After recitation from the Holy Quran, the national anthem of Pakistan was played. Messages of President and Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan were readout. This was followed by speeches made on the occasion by Pakistani students and also by Imam of Islamic Culture Centre Mr. Ibrahimov Mokhamdin.

H.E. the Ambassador highlighted the importance of the day and paid a rich tribute to the founding father, Muhammad Ali Jinnah who alongside other towering personalities of the independence movement, turned the dream of Allama Iqbal into a reality, and Pakistan came into being on 14th August 1947. On this occasion, the importance of independence, its value and blessings were highlighted. In addition, the responsibilities of every individual towards well-being of the people of Pakistan and the country as a whole were also emphasized.

The Ambassador also talked about Kashmir dispute and Pakistan’s principled support to Kashmiris for their right of self determination consistent with UNSC resolutions and the inhuman lockdown emphasized that Pakistan desires to resolve the Kashmir issue through dialogue, if the steps taken by Government of India in IIOJ&K since 2019 are reversed. However, their should be no doubt in anybody’s mind that Pakistan under all circumstances will stick to its principled stance for Kashmir and will continue to provide political, moral and diplomatic support to its Kashmiri brethren in their struggle for self determination.

The Ambassador also highlighted about the situation in Ukraine and effects of ongoing war on the people of Ukraine. He also mentioned about bilateral friendly relations between Pakistan and Ukraine for over three decades. In this context, Pakistan has repeatedly expressed that there is urgent need to end the current escalation and resolve dispute through dialogue and diplomacy. Pakistan has also provided humanitarian assistance of people of Ukraine in the hour of their need. Recent visit of the Ukrainian Foreign Minister and other delegates to Pakistan and need to enhance our bilateral economic cooperation was also mentioned.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for the well-being and prosperity of the people of Pakistan, Muslim Ummah and humanity and also for return of peace and prosperity in Ukraine.
