In the morning of 23rd March 2014, a flag hoisting ceremony was held on the premises of the chancery, in which the Pakistani dispora attended. The ceremony started with the recitation of Holy Quran, followed by hoisting of the flag. The messages of President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif were read out. Ambassador Zaigham Uddin Azam then addressed the community and highlighted the importance of the day and urged them to play their due role in the progress and prosperity of our beloved country. Light refreshments were also arranged on the occasion and over a cup of tea the Ambassador interacted with the community and listened to their problems for solutions. He also sought their advices for improving bilateral trade between Pakistan and Vietnam.

As 23 March fell on a weekend, on the evening of 27 March 2014 a formal reception was held at a local five star hotel, in which members of the Diplomatic Corps, Government Officials, Intelligentia, Businessmen, Newspaper editors and people from all walks of life were invited along with the Pakistani dispora. In his speech the Chief Guest H.E. Mr. Pham Quang Vinh, Deputy Foreign Minister of Vietnam appreciated Pakistan’s great strides in the realm of national construction and development and congratulated the Pakistani nationals persevering under difficult circumstances, during the last many years and stated that Vietnamese government believed that under the wise leadership of President H.E. Mr. Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister, H.E. Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan would continue to gain greater achievements for a stable, prosperous and modern Pakistan. He further stressed on the high level political contact between the two sides.

In the morning of 24th March 2014, Vietnamese newspaper the only English language daily in Vietnam also published an article titled “Pakistan-Vietnam Relations Set to Grow” written by Ambassador Zaigham Uddin Azam, which reflected Pakistan’s efforts to make Pakistan a stable and economically a progressive state. The article also describes the recent achievements of the government and how the economy has been put on the right track by the present government.
