CELEBRATION OF PAKISTAN DAY (23 MARCH 2015) AT PAKISTAN HIGH COMMISSION, DAR-ES-SALAAM (TANZANIA)

A simple but dignified flag hoisting ceremony was held within the premises of High Commission for Pakistan in Dar-es-Salaam (Tanzania) on 23 March 2015 to mark the 75th Anniversary of the Pakistan Day. The ceremony was attended by a large number of Pakistanis, friends of Pakistan, ladies and children.

Charge d’ Affaires, Muhammad Iqbal, hoisted the national flag. Messages of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, received for the occasion, were read out for the benefit of honoured guests.

A dinner reception was also hoisted for 23rd March in a Mayfair Hotel in Dar es Salaam. Large number of Pakistanis, friends of Pakistan, senior officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Republic of Tanzania, ladies and children attended the reception. National songs were sung by the group of children. Few brief speeches on Pakistan day were also delivered by the children which were largely appreciated by the audience. Cultural show, displaying Pakistani dresses was also greatly noticed and attracted the women audience in attendance. Alongside, Pakistan High Commission also for the first time distributed prizes, certificates and medals to encourage students, sportsmen and highly taxpaying businessmen among Pakistani community.

The Charge d’ Affaires in his remarks, congratulated the Pakistani community on an epoch-making day and recapitulated the salient points of the independence movement under dynamic leadership of the Founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and immense sacrifices rendered by the valiant people after the creation of Pakistan.

The Charge d’ Affaires praised the role of the Pakistani community in building a positive image of Pakistan in Tanzania. He also thanked President Kikwete and his government for extending their help and cooperation to Pakistani community who are taking active part in socio-economic uplift of Tanzania. The ceremony came to end with prayers for the progress, prosperity and radiant future of Pakistan.
