Celebrations on 76th Independence Day of Pakistan

The 76^thIndependence Day of Pakistan was commemorated with traditional zeal and fervor at High Commission of Pakistan in Dar es Salaam, this morning. A sizable number of Pakistani Diaspora members along with families and their Tanzanian friendsattended the event.

The event started with playing of the National Anthem and the flag-hoisting by High Commissioner Siraj Ahmad Khan. It was followed by recitation of the Holy Quran. Special messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out by the High Commissioner.

In his remarks, High Commissioner Siraj Ahmad Khan paid tribute to the founding fathers of Pakistan whose sacrifices led to the creation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Sub-continent.The High Commissioner thanked the Pakistani Diaspora in Tanzania for their invaluable contribution for strengthening economic, cultural and people to people relations between the two friendly countries.

Special performances and tableaus were performed by the Pakistani children. Token appreciation gifts were distributed among children. A cake cutting ceremony was also held with the children on this occasion.

The event ended with special prayers for the prosperity of Pakistan and its people.
