Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Pakistan, General Qamar Javed Bajwa NI(M), visited Maldives

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Pakistan, General Qamar Javed Bajwa NI(M), visited Maldives on the invitation of Chief of Defence Force, Maj Gen Ahmed Shiyam from 30 March to 01 April 2018.

During his stay in Maldives, COAS held discussions on matters of professional interest with his counterpart, Major General Ahmed Shiyam. He also called on the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, Dr. Mohamed Asim and Mr. Adam Sahreef Umar, Foreign and Defence Ministers of Maldives. During these meetings issues related to regional security and matters pertaining to mutual interest were discussed.

During his visit he attended a Reception hosted by the Chief of Defence Force in his honour. During the reception he interacted with the officers of MNDF. This is the first time in recent times that Chief of Army Staff, Pakistan has visited Maldives.
