Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong called on the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Mr. Tariq Fatemi, today, and offered condolences over the tragic incident in Peshawar on Tuesday.
Ambassador Sun Weidong handed over condolence letters addressed to the President, the Prime Minister, and the Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, from Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, respectively. The Chinese leadership expressed sympathy and full support for the people of Pakistan in the aftermath of the dastardly attack in Peshawar.
Thanking the Chinese Ambassador, Mr. Fatemi said China’s support was a source of strength for the people of Pakistan in their hour of grief, and demonstrated yet again, the unique bonds of friendship and mutual goodwill that exist between the two countries. He said the tragedy in Peshawar has further strengthened Pakistan’s resolve to root out terrorism and terrorists from our soil.
Ambassador Sun Weidong also presented a cheque of $50,000 for the victims of the terrorist attack in Peshawar, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad.
