The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to clarify media reports with regard to the correct status of the construction of the High Security Block (HSB).

The foundation stone of PSDP-funded HSB project was laid by the then Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on 18 October 2004. An amount of Rs.248.60 million was approved in the first PC-1, which was subsequently increased due to some additional works in the revised PC-1 in November 2006. In April 2007, a separate PC-1 incorporating the furnishing and Simultaneous Language Interpretation System (SLIS) for the Block amounting to Rs.195 million was approved.

The delay in the completion of the project is due to number of factors that have been beyond the control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Nonetheless, the construction of the project is back on track and is expected to be completed by the end of 2012.
