Consulate General celebrated Independence Day

Pakistan Independence Day was celebrated at the Consulate General of Pakistan, Dubai on 14 August 2018. A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the premises of the Consulate General, to celebrate the Independence Day in a dignified and befitting manner. Consul General of Pakistan, Syed Javed Hassan raised the national flag to mark the day, in front of large number of Pakistani community members, representing almost all the segments of life, who had arrived from different parts of Dubai and from Northern Emirates of the UAE to participate in the event.

The national anthem was played while the national flag was being raised. Messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, meant for the occasion, were read out.

Consul General Syed Javed Hassan, while addressing the audience, welcomed and congratulated them on the auspicious occasion. He recounted the arduous struggle and sacrifices rendered by the Muslims of the sub-continent for having a separate homeland. “We have to remember the sacrifices of our forefathers and make our children and youngsters aware of their contributions that made the idea of Pakistan possible, he said.

He urged the Pakistani community members to play their proactive role to make Pakistan a stronger and prosperous country by following the model of dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

He lauded the role of the Pakistani community in strengthening the national economy. He also urged the Pakistani community to work tirelessly for the progress and development of the UAE and continue to abide by local norms under all circumstances. He expressed gratitude to the UAE leadership for their consistent support to the people of Pakistan.

The Consul General also appealed to the Pakistani community in the UAE to donate generously for the “Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund-2018” directly through Pakistani banks in the UAE as well as through the Consulate General. A bank account will be opened soon for the purpose. The Fund has been established by the Supreme Court of Pakistan for the construction of Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam.
