The newly appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan, Ambassador Mehdi Honardoost, paid a courtesy call on the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs (SAPM), Syed Tariq Fatemi, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.

The SAPM welcomed Ambassador Honardoost to Islamabad, and felicitated him on his appointment. He emphasized that Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with Iran, and assured him of full support in the discharge of his responsibilities. He expressed the hope that his presence in Islamabad would help further strengthen the relationship between the two brotherly countries, with both sides continuing to explore new avenues for bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Honardoost thanked the SAPM for the warm welcome extended to him by the Government of Pakistan. He expressed his strong resolve to work towards maintaining the positive trajectory of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran, particularly in the areas of economic cooperation, trade, tourism, energy as well as people-to-people contacts.
