The Pakistan Foreign Office Wives Association headed by Begum Taranum Bashir, the wife of the Foreign Secretary has been carrying out multifarious relief work in conjunction with the Pakistan Navy in wake of last years devastating floods.
In order to support the excellent work being done by PFOWA the Pakistani Consulate in Sydney collected some funds from the Pakistani and Australian community.
On Saturday 19 February 2011 a small ceremony was held at the Foreign Secretary’s office in which Mr. Hamid Asghar, Pakistan’s Consul in Sydney handed over A$ 6961 (Rs.600,000) to the President of PFOWA Begum Taranum Bashir in the presence of the Foreign Secretary and the Executive Committee members of PFOWA.
The President of PFOWA thanked the Consul for the contribution sent by the Pakistani community in Sydney and asked him to convey the thanks of the entire Executive Committee to those who had contributed.
Mr. Hamid Asghar expressed his gratitude to the Foreign Secretary Mr. Salman Bashir for having very kindly spared some of his valuable time in order to witness the ceremony.
