ECO Secretary General calls on Foreign Minister

Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Mr. Yahya Maroofi, called on the Foreign Minister, Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar, today.

Mr. Maroofi is in Islamabad to attend the inaugural session of the Board of Trustees of ECO Science Foundation, one of the specialized agencies of ECO based in Islamabad.

The Foreign Minister discussed with Mr. Maroofi Important initiatives on the agenda of ECO, including ECO Trade Agreement (ECOTA), ECO Container Train linking Islamabad with Istanbul via Tehran (also known as Gul Train), ECO Truck Caravan, and ECO Re-insurance Company.

The Foreign Minister lauded operationalization of ECO Science Foundation as an important step in ECO’s institution-building process.

Mr. Maroofi expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s support to ECO’s activities.
