Libya Mission Post|

Five years after the revolution of 2011, Libya is still passing through a transitional phase of chaos, disorder and turmoil. Due to absence of writ of the government, extremist groups like Islamic State (IS) have established themselves in many cities of Libya like Sirte, Sabrata, Derna, Benghazi, Asidra, Ras Launuf, Nouflia, and Ajdabiya. Consequently, America and its allies have started air strikes on the camps of IS. Recently, on 19th February, 2016 a camp of IS was attacked in Sabrata killing around 50 individuals. Embassy of Pakistan has repeatedly issued travel advice for Pakistanis emphasizing that all Pakistanis should leave the conflict zones for a safer place. Despite this situation, Embassy of Pakistan is providing all consular Services to 10-12000 Pakistanis residing in Libya. On 31st January, 2016 Machine Readable Passport (MRP) facility was inaugurated by H.E the Ambassador of Pakistan and so far 450 cases have been processed on merit, out of which 175 passports have been received and distributed today. Pakistani community is highly indebted to the government of Pakistan including Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration and Passport Authorities for this speedy service.
