Embassy of Pakistan in Mexico holds Flag Hoisting Ceremony and National Day Reception
The traditional flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan, Mexico City on 23 March 2018 to mark the National Day of Pakistan. The ceremony was attended by a cross-section of Pakistani community living in Mexico. Ambassador Tasawar Khan, hoisted the Pakistani flag to the tune of National Anthem and read out the messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan for the Nation at the occasion of National Day. He also reiterated the need to project soft image of Pakistan and strengthen trade and commercial relations between the two countries.
A National Day reception was also held at the Chancery premises in the afternoon, which was attended by a large number of Mexican dignitaries, Ambassadors, members of diplomatic community, businessmen and members of media. Honourable Senator Adolfo Romero Lainas, Vice President of the Senate was the Chief Guest at the occasion while General Carlos Ramon Carillo Del Villar represented the Minister of Defence. The reception began with the playing of national anthems of both countries, which was followed by remarks by Ambassador Tasawar Khan.
Ambassador Khan highlighted the long journey made since the adoption of Pakistan Resolution on 23 March 1940, which resulted in the emergence of Pakistan on the world map on 14 August 1947. He shared Pakistan's achievements in the field of socio-economic development and projected the trade and investment opportunities offered by the country in the wake of China Pakistan Economic Corridor. He also underscored Pakistan's efforts and contribution towards regional and international peace and security. Appreciating the cordial relations between Pakistan and Mexico, he stressed upon the need to reopen the Mexican Embassy in Islamabad to mutually benefit from the ample scope that exists for further development of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Mexico.
