The outgoing Ambassador of the Argentine Republic, H.E Rodolfo Jose Martin Saravia, who is also the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, made a farewell call on the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs (SAPM), Syed Tariq Fatemi, today, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The SAPM extended his felicitations to the Ambassador on the completion of a most fruitful and productive assignment in Pakistan, and noted with satisfaction that Ambassador Rodolfo’s 12 years of stay in Pakistan had been helpful in bringing the two countries even closer. While appreciating the outgoing Ambassador’s deep understanding of Pakistani culture and society, the SAPM remarked that Ambassador Rodolfo would be remembered as a diplomat par excellence, as well as a genuine and sincere friend of Pakistan. The Special Assistant expressed the desire to continue working closely in the future with the next Ambassador of Argentine, for the enhancement of Pakistan-Argentine bilateral relations.
Reciprocating the sentiments, Ambassador Saravia said that he considered Pakistan as his second home and appreciated the warmth and affection with which the people of Pakistan had hosted him for more than a decade. He fondly recalled his many visits across the length and breadth of the country and admired the hospitality extended to him by the people from all walks of life. The Ambassador said that Pakistan would always be close to his heart and he looked forward to maintaining his bonds of friendship and brotherhood with Pakistan, in future as well.
During the meeting, issues concerning promotion of trade, commercial and investment linkages as well as greater people to people contacts between Argentina and Pakistan, were also discussed.
