On my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Pakistan, I wish to extend my heartiest felicitations to you on your assumption of the office of the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. This is an historic occasion as it marks the return of democracy to Bangladesh.

Pakistan and Bangladesh have a very special relationship. In the years ahead, I look forward to working with you to further expand and deepen the close bonds of friendship between our two brotherly countries.

South Asia is facing unprecedented challenges in the present times. These call for concerted efforts in order to achieve the shared goal of economic prosperity of our two peoples.
