Flag Hoisting Ceremony in Lisbon on the Occasion of 70th Independence Day of Pakistan

A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Chancery on the occasion of 70th Independence Day of Pakistan. The national flag was raised by the Ambassador of Pakistan, Zehra Akbari. While sharing her thoughts with the audience, the Ambassador highlighted the enormous sacrifices made by our forefathers for achieving independence. The Ambassador urged Pakistani community members to renew their pledge to work together and contribute to the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

The Ambassador along with children cut the cake to celebrate Pakistan’s birthday.

Messages of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out on the occasion.

A spectacular musical concert was also organized by the Embassy in front of Monastery de Jeronimos, a well-known public tourist attraction. A Portuguese Band played Pakistani national songs; a large number of community members, representatives of the Lisbon Municipality and tourists attended the event.

Later on, a car rally was also arranged to mark the 70th Independence Day. The car rally with Pakistani flags passed through the city center and remained the center of attention.
