The Foreign Minister Mr. Shah Mehmood Qureshi called the Foreign Minister of Iraq H.E. Mr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari to discuss the difficulties being faced by Pakistani pilgrims in getting visas for the forthcoming Arbaeen in Iraq. The Foreign Minister appreciated the cooperation extended by the Embassy of Iraq, which has already issued over 41,000 visas. He mentioned that since a large number of applicants still awaiting visas, it will be appreciated if their cases are processed expeditiously.

Foreign Minister of Iraq thanked the Foreign Minister for his call and extended felicitation to the Foreign Minister on assuming the office and wished him success. He expressed hope that during his tenure, the bilateral relations between the two countries will prosper and strengthen. He assured that instructions will be issued to the Mission in Islamabad to expedite the processing of Pakistani pilgrims visas for Arbaeen. The Foreign Minister of Iraq also extended an invitation to the Foreign Minister to visit Iraq.

Earlier in the day the Foreign Minister had met Ambassador of Iraq and highlighted the visa difficulties of pilgrims.
